We got up at 2.30 a.m. and trundled down unlighted streets to the
station. |
Our plane was a Airbus A319: we landed at Bari and drove on the
autostrada past olive groves and vines. |
We had lunch of baguettes and juice at a Sarni petrol station. |

We settled in to the Hotel Tramonto which was
alongside a tramway which ran parallel to the beach. We
had a traditional Italian meal at 20.00 and fell into bed early after a 19
hour day.
There was no hot water and we were cold in bed. The
next day we were given a couple of blankets, but the water never
rose above lukewarm until 18.30 when it was just warm enough for a
shower.
The hotel was geared up for hot weather and we were visiting too early in the
year. |
