Before breakfast we walked up the hill behind the hotel to the sound of nightingales.   There was a field with lady orchids.

 

After breakfast we went to the Peschiki area and after lunch on to the area west of Vieste

We had lunch in an olive grove with derelict buildings;  the birders saw a Montague's Harrier, red-rumped swallows, bee-eaters, a hobby, whinchat and Jack snipe.   The spiralling roads made me glad to have my wrist bands.
