We caught the Water bus to Burano via Porta Sabione
after a certain amount of trouble locating the pier. Burano is an
enchanting place, on a human scale, with the most wonderfully coloured
houses. There was a lot of washing hanging from lines below the
windows, but it was Monday. We had a coffee; then looked for the Lace
Museum which was shut – Monday again…

Baldassare Galuppi was an Italian composer, born on the island of Burano in the
Venetian Republic. He was composing at the same time as Christoph

Another coffee then we caught the Water bus again. We got off at Fondamenta Nuove and walked along the
waterside path as far as possible. We fell foul of what seemed to be
a military area and could not get through, so we had to retrace our footsteps.
We caught another Bus from Celestia to San Marco and were home by 17.00.

After a short rest we went to supper at the Chinese
Restaurant near the Fish Market over the Rialto Bridge called the Giardino di
Giada. Peter had Schechwan pork and I had Chicken and
cashews. A good meal and very reasonable.
